BiH Grand Rapid’s announces George Moni as head coach for 2019 season
Grand Rapids, MI – BiH Grand Rapids is excited to announce George Moni as the head coach for the 2019 season. He brings over 30 years of experience as a player and a top coach. George currently serves as Director of Coach and Player Development for Midwest United FC and has been an integral part of the club’s success for the past decade. Without any doubt, he has been one of the coaches with the biggest impact in the Grand Rapids soccer scene. George grew up in Albania, where he played professional soccer from 1984-1994. He also made appearances in the European Qualifiers with the Albanian National Team at the U18 and U21 level. George currently holds his USSF A License, UEFA B License, and his NSCAA Premier Diploma.
George’s coaching experience began in 1994-1996 in Albania's top professional league. Since 1996, George has been with various top youth clubs around Michigan as a director and owner. In the span of 22 years George has won hundreds of league and tournament championships including Junior State Cup’s titles and State Cup titles. He has been a crucial part for many years as a Michigan ODP head coach. On the college level George was the assistant coach at Davenport University where his expertise led the program to their first WHAC Conference title. He also was the GRFC head coach, where he led the team to NPSL Great Lakes Conference Cup, Regional finals and US Open Cup spot in their first year in the league.
“I am honored and privileged to be named as the BiH Grand Rapids Head Coach for the 2019 season”, said Moni. “From the first meeting with the ownership team, I noticed a great sense of excitement and enthusiasm about this new project and I delighted to be an integral part of it. We had a mutual agreement on the purpose, vision and the direction of the team. Our community has grown a lot of love and passion for the game and has developed many talented soccer players. My goal is to lay a strong foundation, develop a team with a winning mindset and high expectations. A team that will make our GR community proud off”.
BiH Grand Rapids owner’s Elmedin Zukic and Anes Suhonjic said, “When we found out that George was available for the job, we knew he would be the perfect fit for the club. It’s not every day you get the chance to sign the most qualified coach in the state. We are excited to have George start working with the team and wish him the best of luck this season”.
